The Mandolin Player — James Carroll Beckwith

James Carroll Beckwith trained in Paris alongside John Singer Sargent and spent his career as one of America's most polished portrait and figure painters, prized for his elegant brushwork and quiet, studio-lit compositions. The Mandolin Player is one of his figure studies — a single musician caught mid-note, rendered with the same restrained realism Beckwith brought to his society portraits. Restored here for a room that could use a little quiet music.
